What do y'all make of this?

An attempt to belittle someone opposing the diarist's (and my) candidate, or an actual medical condition affecting our ex-President?

No, I wish I had thought of it in this case, but it is true, bypass surgery causes brain damage. I knew that already. It might well be the case—as in, quite likely, I would say.

You think that's part of Cheney's problem, too?

You mean how he isn’t the Cheney people who know him remember? Maybe. Heart attacks also cause brain damage. And I think I have seen this issue brought up concerning Cheney, but with someone so fiendish it is not at all unusual for people who knew him to be stunned when the fiendishness becomes public knowledge. Also, the lying that many have called ‘delusional’ strikes me as bullying and deliberate repetition-of-lies, rather than delusion. And his crazy plans are those of a whole group of fiends, not just himself. So I don’t see any real evidence of a significant change, in Cheney’s case.

I have been told that heart attacks can cause personality change -- which, I suppose, could be considered just another way of saying "brain damage."

Sure is, but it can also be much worse—a heart attack is what got Theresa Schiavo in that state, for instance.

The actual medical condition does exist, and the writer's descriptions of it match my own knowledge, and having been through the surgery myself I assure you I've done my homework on it.

I'm not sure who your candidate *is*, though Hillary is implied by context. But I don't see how suggesting Bill may have medical problems is an attempt to belittle *her*.

best,

Joel

Since Iguana talks about someone opposing his candidate, I assume his candidate is Obama, and the kos article is belittling (or not) Obama's opposition.

I personally think it was intended to be kind rather than belittling.
